A heavily beaded and quilled 1880s pipe bag held tobacco for peaceful employment of this gracefully embellished pipe tomahawk. The sharpened edge and bleeding heart design indicate readiness for battle if need be. Carried over an arm, or looped over his wide belt of prestigious German silver conchos, a Plains brave was alert to all opportunities for showing off, or a show of strength.
